Intermodal Europe 2022

The biggest fair for the container shipping and intermodal transport industry took place in Amsterdam for the first time after covid.

Intermodal Europe took place in Amsterdam 8th-10th of November 2022 for the first time since 2019.

Our CEO Jesse, Regional Director Matti and our international operators Jorge and Maria participated in the event and had many enlightening discussions with both old and new partners and colleagues.

The general consensus is that the container industry is still feeling the impacts of the covid pandemic. China’s zero-covid policy and recurrent lockdowns result in delays at container factories as well as the big container ports in China.

The biggest challenge at the start of 2023 will be moving the containers from China to Europe. As the economic demand continues to diminish at a global scale and shipping companies prioritize transporting their own containers to Europe, there will inevitably be a lack of some special models on the container market for some time. According to our prediction, the container shortage will sort itself out by the end of March next year.

A positive trend in the current situation is that there will be more used container units available. This, in turn, means that container prices will also be going down.

It is also great news that the container industry keeps evolving and bringing out new container models on the market to better serve customers around the world.
